Often, we become so concerned with specialization in sport that we forget how beneficial that a variety of training methods can be. It is extremely important, especially for youth athletes, to learn an array of movement patterns. Weightlifting has been proven to enhance young athlete’s performance in sports such as football, basketball, and baseball by increasing their body awareness, muscular strength and endurance, and explosive power. It also provides tons of other benefits through improvement of motor skills, reduced risk for sports related injuries, and by providing a social platform where confidence and self-esteem can grow.
