3) I will release another blog post this week with 4 valuable lessons about weightlifting and making gains from 531’s Jim Wendler!
4) January’s Member of the Month: Hulk, beast, super-woman, AKA Sarah Wiggins!
Who is the super strong blonde that always has perfect hair, even at the end of the WOD! Sarah is a charter member, being with us since we opened in 2009, in Mount Olive, NC. Sarah is an amazing athlete, she pushes her limits and never fails to amaze us with her strength! She is motivating to the group and especially to her mom, Terry, who is also a charter member!
Sarah is most proud of her strength! And she should be!! Her strength has brought her muscles, which she loves, and feel proud in every outfit that shows them off! Sarah is a Physical Therapist Assistant with Goldsboro Physical Therapy, with her expert knowledge on pre-/re-hab Sarah has been able to stay injury FREE since she has started wodding up; she has also been an excellent source to members that face aches, pain, and injuries here and there. Gaining strength has allowed Sarah to reach a very impressive goal…HAND STAND PUSH-UP…a real one, without any abmats! Way to go girl!!
QoDU – yea that sounds for Queen of Double Unders and this girl has earned that title! She can spin that rope fast than you can say “3,2,1 go!” Giving “Annie” a top favorite of Sarah’s! She is also a pretty slick snatcher, at CFGB “Battle of the Boro” in May 2013, Sarah put up one of the top Female Rx numbers for the day (a very proud moment for Sarah and CFGB!!) “Grace” is another favorite of Sarah’s 95# GTO for 30 reps … yea she’s got that, no problem! With our good does come the bad, and “Karen” would be Sarah’s least favorite, 150 WBS for time, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”
Last year Sarah represented CFGB in FOUR competitions and The Open! She did amazing at all of them, through blood, sweat, bronchitis … possible pneumonia, she toughed it out in the cold, wet, wind, and swelter! We are so excited to have someone that is as positive, motivating, and energetic as Sarah to compete with; she pushes not only herself but all those she competes with!
A little advice for the road from Sarah, to the ladies, embrace your CF body! “Strong is beautiful!” love your muscles! “And it’s awesome being able to lift heavy things in your everyday life without needing help from the husband!” For men and women “Listen to our coaches, they know what they are doing, and eat somewhat clean, you make chicken salad out of chicken shit.”
