Merry Christmas! Please post to our Facebook page what you are bringing to the Chirstmas Party so we dont have two of something for Paleo Potluck!
Lets take a second and talk about the Hip Bump! We call it the same thing referencing back to what James Tatum calls it! We see this often mistaking in the clean and snatch with our beginning lifters. Once you figure out the hip bump and go it like hitting the glory hole! lol Dmitry Klokov refers to it as the Hip Punch!
Lets look at these 2 movements:
Snatch High Pull – The Deadlift with what they called the “Hip Punch”. It is the triple extension where violent contact is made with the hips into the bar. It gives off a rattling sound when proper contact is made. The order for extension goes; hips, toes, shoulders, arms
Clean Pull– Clean Deadlift with the Hip punch but, for many it makes contact with the upper thigh as opposed to the pubic area (which is where the Snatch hits). Additionally, There were no arms involved in this pull, it was about the hips and shoulder shrug. Order was hips, toes, shoulders. The arms simply follow through on the motion and assist with the turnover in the clean.
