Drew Geer (far right)
Drew, Drew, Drew…yea you know him, the one who you stare at while wall-ballin it up…rather the one who is always staring at you! Yes Drew, our immortal life size cut out that he graciously donated to CFGB! Drew has been at Crossfit Goldsboro since it opened last August, after his first experience with Crossfit while he was deployed. He shamelessly will admit to anyone that he mainly went, while he was deployed, to stare at the instructor, Vanessa, who he actually snagged to be the future Mrs. Geer!! Upon his arrival at Crossfit Goldsboro Drew met Joey, not as hot as Vanessa, but still convincing enough for Drew to return! Forty pounds and numerous PR’s later Drew is kicking butt and takin’ names!
Drew has accomplished some amazing goals since starting at CFGB! He is most proud of his snatch! When first starting Drew struggled with this difficult and multifaceted Olympic movement, but, with the help of our dedicated coaches and Drew’s perseverance he has reached his new PR 155#; and I know we can all say…. it is a good looking snatch! Quick hips and fast under the bar, Drew moves like the jungle cat ready to pounce on it prey. This is a 110# PR in 12 months ladies and gentlemen!! Way to go Drew!
If you have ever had the pleasure to workout with Drew or attend a class with him you will know that he accepts a challenge and wants it to be as grueling and terrifying as possible, that is why this sick man loves WOD’s that are, heavy, long, and include a run….why you ask? “It involves the entire crossfit concept.” That is why Grace +8 is on top of Drew’s favorite WOD list! On the other hand, throw a demoralizing thruster Drew’s way and he will gladly accept the challenge just with a little less enthusiasm! Any workout Drew is a hard workin’, crossfitin’, heavy liftin’ kind of a guy and we all admire that about him!
Drew will proudly be representing CFGB in Charleston, SC at the Integrity Games in October! This will be Drew’s second competition after completing War of the Wods in Greenboro, NC this past January! We know that he will do a great job, his goal is to go HAM and leave nothing in the tank! But this, my friends, is what it is all about, “don’t cheat yourself with regard to workouts or nutrition, listen to your coaches, and don’t let your head get bigger than your lift.” Drew has been able to experience a “positive change in lifestyle, attitude, and motivation” since starting at CFGB he states, he also realized that Vanessa has been right all along with her coaching cues and guidance; it just had to come from Mike and Joey to reiterate that it was correct!
We are proud and excited that you have chosen CFGB as your box! We are super excited to see some new numbers you will put up in Charleston and know you will represent us well! You have accomplished some amazing PR’s (445-deadlift, 245-Front Squat, 235-Split Jerk, 205-Thruster) just to name a few! Keep pressing on, forward and up! You got this Drew, GO HAM!
